Study Reveals Thriving Event Tech Landscape Amidst Pandemic
A recent global mapping study conducted by marketing expert Hoosh, titled EventTech 800, found that the number of event technology vors has increased by an impressive 400 in just one year. The report identifies 832 companies operating within this sector across eleven categories, including Event Marketing Software, Conference Intelligence Software, Event Management Software, Virtual Event Platforms and Audience Response Systems.
This surge indicates a significant shift towards digital solutions as traditional face-to-face events were disrupted due to the pandemic. Hoosh's CEO Fab Capodicasa was particularly surprised by the scale of growth in this area: I have been closely following this space during the pandemic period, but I was still shocked by the sheer number of vors that have emerged.
The increase includes both new startups like Hopin and rmeet alongside well-established players such as Cvent, Aventri, ON24, and Bizzabo. Capodicasa believes this growth will ultimately benefit event planners and attees alike.
I predict there'll be less choice in platforms but more specialized applications, he noted. Big platforms t to prefer this situation because the platform that builds the largest ecosystem of apps wins. However, despite consolidation, Capodicasa also expects these platforms' larger ecosyste foster innovation by encouraging a diverse range of specialized software.
Hoosh plans to continue tracking the event technology landscape and publishing updates quarterly for now. The study will potentially evolve into biannual or annual reports as the sector stabilizes.
EventTech 800 represents Hoosh's ongoing effort to understand and map out this rapidly growing market, offering insights that could guide both new entrants and seasoned professionals alike in navigating the event technology space efficiently.
The study is a testament to how technology has not only survived but thrived during times of significant disruption. As we move forward into an increasingly digital world, these tools will undoubtedly play an even more vital role in engaging audiences and creating memorable experiences for all participants.
